How to Use Straight Rate Deduct to Account for Flat Spread Nutrient Applications

In order to account for a flat or straight rate application of a nutrient, follow these steps!

  1. After you have chosen your Equation and set your Equation Rule, Product, and Product Cost, select the product, the cost, and the rate of NUTRIENT that will be accounted for in the Straight Rate Deduct section.

    1. Examples of Phosphorus Straight Rate Applications:
      1. Starter
      2. Manure
      3. Wastewater
      4. Sludge
      5. Any bi-product that a grower gets from a company that has an analysis to know what the applied nutrient value is.
  2. For Nitrogen, follow the same procedure, but, if the grower would like to put on a certain normal amount of nitrogen you would put the total amount in the normal rate box and set the flat rate application amount so that the Normal amount minus the flat rate application equal the total desired pounds of nitrogen.  (For this example, the grower wants the total amount of nitrogen to be 180# of N and will apply 30# of 32% UAN in a weed and feed in the spring, so the normal rate for the fall application of NH3 would be 180 - 30 to be approximately 150# of N with variance due to adjustments from soil tests and Nitrogen from Phosphorus product.)
