Why do I Have to Set Crop in So Many Places?

There are several places to set the crop in PCS and they serve a different purpose. Here is the explanation of what each does to help you better understand PCS' system.

  1. Order Soil Sampling

Setting the Crop in this location will enable the Prescription page to know what crop to pull a Yield Goal for when calculating your VR nutrient prescription based off of yield goal.

It also helps you to filter by crop, if you wish to only view only one Crop type when creating prescriptions.  This is a time saver if you have many fields with the same crop type that have the same equation being run on them!

Setting the crop here stays in Premier Precision and does not pull into Premier Decision.
  2. Management Zones

mgmtzonescropSetting the Crop here enables the PDF to calculate the units needed by field and also to keep the Crops different on the Seed Summary Sheet.  Setting the crop here stays in this part of the system and goes no where else.
  3. Whole Field Web Entry

By setting the crop in Whole Field Web Entry, this sets the crop in order to create groups, create grower & field level reports, & run queries.

This does not go into Premier Precision and stays in Premier Decision.
